Shooting for the Stars
A new generation of space pioneers
The world is entering a new space age. Getting to orbit has never been easier, and this access to space is opening a whole new frontier for innovation.
The UK space sector is worth £17.5 billion a year, and growing. Hundreds of companies across the UK are building world-leading technologies, contributing to the future of space exploration. Airbus Defence and Space works with over 2000 companies across the UK to build spacecraft. In July 2024, they invited ten space startups to join a three month accelerator programme. From manufacturing cancer drugs in zero gravity, to democratising space travel; we follow three space start-ups as they journey to the stars.
A special thanks to all involved: Dr Katie King of BioOrbit, Ashley Johnson of Applied Atomics, Thomas Clayson of MagDrive, Dr Paul Bate CEO UKSA, Kata Escott CB MD Airbus Defence and Space, Surrey Space Centre, Queen Mary's University of London, Institute of Physics.
